10月7日（水）、東急電鉄様とともに、志のぶ幼稚園様を訪問し、岡秀樹園長先生と都立大学駅開業100周年記念事業について意見交換をさせていただきました。
志のぶ幼稚園は、1911年（明治44年）に設立された、地域とともに100年以上の歩みを重ねてこられた幼稚園です。
今回のお話で改めて驚いたのが、岡先生のアイディアと実践力、そして地域に開かれた活動の豊かさです！
東急電鉄とのご縁も深く、2020年10月には、幼稚園創立109周年と「109」を掛け合わせたコラボレーション企画「ニコニコなかよし東急電車」を開催。園児たちが描いた絵を駅構内に展示されたそうです。
さらに2022年には、東急グループ100周年を記念して、東急電鉄やキャラクターの「のるるん」を招き、地域の皆さんと「志のぶわいわいパーク」でお祝いされたとのこと。
この「志のぶわいわいパーク」は、子どもたちが幼稚園や保育所などの所属に関係なく、地域の人・もの・お店・企業と出会い、音楽や自然体験など、さまざまな経験を楽しめる場。2022年4月にスタートし、年6回開催され、園庭がいっぱいになるほど多くの地域の方が参加されているそうです。
まさに、幼稚園が地域の「つながりの拠点」になっているのですね。
面談では、東急電鉄が大切にしている「まちづくりと鉄道」という考え方についてもお話を伺いました。
また、100周年を一日限りのお祝いで終わらせず、地域にレガシーとして残せるものにしてはどうか、という素敵なご提案もいただきました。
マンホール、トランスボックスへのアートラッピング、さらには「都立大学トリビア」を集めて地域の魅力を伝えるアイディアなど。
まだまだこれからの構想ですが、考えるだけでもワクワクします！
都立大学で仕事を始めて16年あまり。まさか自分が、東急電鉄の皆様や幼稚園の園長先生と一緒に、地域の次の100年について話し合うことになるとは、当時は想像もしていませんでした。
100周年事業を通じて、これまで知らなかった地域の歴史や人のつながりに出会えること。その一つひとつが、実行委員長を務める中でいただいている貴重な経験です。
これからも地域の皆様と一緒に、楽しく、そして未来につながる100周年を考えてまいります。
Connecting Toritsu-Daigaku — The Next 100 Years, With Our Children
On Wednesday, October 7, I visited Shinobu Kindergarten together with Tokyu Railways Corporation. We had a wonderful conversation with the kindergarten’s principal, Mr. Hideki Oka, about the upcoming 100th anniversary of Toritsu-Daigaku Station.
Founded in 1911, Shinobu Kindergarten has been part of the Meguro community for more than a century.
One of the highlights of our conversation was learning about the kindergarten’s creative and long-standing collaboration with Tokyu.
In October 2020, Shinobu Kindergarten celebrated its 109th anniversary with a playful collaboration called “Nikoniko Nakayoshi Tokyu Train,” connecting the number 109 with Tokyu’s well-known 109 brand. Children’s artwork was displayed inside the station.
Then, in 2022, the kindergarten celebrated Tokyu Group’s 100th anniversary with Tokyu Railway staff and Tokyu’s beloved character, Norurun, at an event called “Shinobu Waiwai Park.”
Launched in April 2022, Shinobu Waiwai Park opens the kindergarten’s playground to the community six times a year. Children, families, and local residents can meet people from different backgrounds, discover local shops and businesses, enjoy music and entertainment, and experience nature together.
It is a wonderful example of a kindergarten serving as a hub for the whole community.
During our meeting, we also discussed Tokyu’s approach to “railways and community development.”
Ideas included commemorative manhole covers, art on utility boxes, and even a collection of local trivia about Toritsu-Daigaku to help people rediscover the neighborhood.
These are still ideas to explore, but they certainly got us thinking!
I have been working in Toritsu-Daigaku for more than 16 years. Back then, I could never have imagined sitting down with railway representatives and a kindergarten principal to discuss the future of our community.
That is one of the unexpected gifts of working on this centennial project: discovering the people, stories, and connections that make our neighborhood special.
The journey toward our centennial continues. Let’s make it meaningful, joyful, and lasting.
